History

Founded in 2015, the Live6 Alliance, which derives its name from the intersection of Livernois and W.McNichols (6 Mile), was developed as a public-private partnership to promote neighborhood revitalization efforts in one of our city’s most storied and beloved districts.

Establishing its foundation and vision through deep engagement with neighborhood leaders and community advisors, the Live6 Alliance developed early traction as an emerging community development organization.

Through layers of investments and strategic partnerships, Live6 was able to collaborate on several transformative infrastructure development projects, which include Ella Fitzgerald Park and Greenway, W. McNichols Streetscape Improvements, and the Fitzgerald Revitalization Project.

New public amenities have yielded private investment and catalytic transformation on our commercial corridor through the Strategic Neighborhood Fund, where the Livernois-McNichols district was one of the 1st three neighborhoods outside of Detroit’s downtown and adjacent midtown districts to receive customizable development subsidies and incentives.

Furthering its neighborhood-based development strategy, Live6 partners with the University of Detroit Mercy, the Marygrove Conservancy, and the University of Michigan, adjacent community based organizations, and philanthropic partners to build a coalition of anchors that attract businesses to the area and create a sound physical and social environment fostering new momentum and energy.
